I got this paper shredder for my husband as a Christmas gift last year, 2007, after reading all of the reviews on this shredder in Amazon. I read other reviews on paper shredders (these reviews are really helpful) and this is the one I kept coming back to that appeared to be what we needed. We have had a large quantity of shredding for over 17 years, I bought a Fellowes Paper Shredder at the time that cost more than this one. It did not recover from a paper jam last year.
This equipment has surpassed my expectations regarding its appearance -- it looks much better than the picture. It is set up in my husband's business office, it is easy to carry to other parts of the house and use. It is much quieter than our last one which is nice; our first shredder did not have a basket; this one does. I have been shredding 5 sheets at a time comfortably and have not tried the 8 sheets that is recommended on the box. I am used to having a forward and reverse button. It is the position of the button in "front" of me on top of the shredder in front of the shredder teeth that is unfamiliar to me. I was used to having the shredder button on the top to the "side" of the shredder teeth. Evidently this convenience is for the left or right handed, and just as safe. My first shredder single-cut; this one cross cutter shredder. I like the idea of having a "jam free" paper shredder. Fellow shredders powershred 32057 P-57Cs, is a great product and I recommend it.

For the money, you can hardly beat this one. I use it to shred all those literally hundreds of credit card shill letters I receive. But most importantly, I use it to shred correspondence from my family, especially my anal-retentive sister who is constantly writing me telling me I am doomed to spend eternity in hell if I do not change my ways. I use to go into a complete rage when receiving these letters and was receiving many paper cuts from ripping them, the letters, to shreds. With this handy little inexpensive gadget, I get great satisfaction if watching the hateful words being reduced to little thin strips of nothing.
I also receive letters from overly aggressive friends I have spent brief evenings or weekends with and which do not know how to let go and do not understand the concept of "ships passing in the night." Some of these letters would mortify me if I died and I knew my prudish sister read them; which she would and would delight in sharing them with the rest of the family.
This machine is quite, efficient and attractive, if any machine can truly be called attractive. I have had no problems with it. The cost was certainly reasonable. I only shred one page at a time as I get a kick out of it for some reason and I try to make the moment last, especially with those horrid letters from my sister.
I very much recommend this product and I hope you have a nicer sister than I and have no need for this machine.
P.S. If you get really, really angry and try to stuff all ten pages of a letter in at once, the machine dose go clunky on you sometimes.

I recently purchased this shredder and i am extremely happy with my buy. The Shredder does work as advertised, although there is some merit to some of the bad reviews as the chord is rather short and it does sometimes run into minor trouble when shredding full junk mail envlopes.
ALTHOUGH what these people fail to realize is that while jamming mass amounts of stuff in there one after the other, most shredders under 100 bucks aren't going to be able to handle that load. If you do that the shredder will tend to get hot and possibly jam. This shredder is not intended to be a mass mail shredder, if you need something like that then that stop being cheap and spend more then 50 bucks.
The products works wonderfully for most kind of mail if you are patient and feed it through slowly, i went through about 2 years of old bills and what not in about 20 min, which for the sane and patient is not a long amount of time. This shredder was not intended for you to take all your mail and just start jamming it in the slot. Take a little time out of your life and just put it into sheet stacks and it will work to perfection.
Lastly do not buy the oil for the shredder as you can just use vegetable oil as instructed in the user manual, so save yourself the money.

This shredder fits nicely under a desk, is cross cutting shredder, handles all the daily mail and old file projects, and doubles as a regular trashcan. A good buy.

The Fellow shredder works great. I've been using it for aproximately 2 months now and have had no issues. It has great safety features, is easy to clean and simple to use. Although it says it can take a max of 8 pages at a time, I think that is pushing it, and I usually put in no more than 5-6 at a time. It also sounds like it's working quite hard when shredding a credit card or CD/DVD.
For the money, this has been a great buy and I would reccommend.
